Wow, what a busy time of year!!!!!!

We have about 14 excellent teachers having interviews with schools we know and trust over the past 4 days. I have not been updating the jobs as frequently, since we have so many job openings, the teachers are in such demand I am busy all day setting up interviews, or reviewing contracts with them.

Here's a quick overview of what we're working with right now. Keep in mind we expect a HUGE surge in schools needing teachers to arrive in Korea in mid to late March, to get trained in time for the new semester, starting March 2nd.

*** Please also ask us about the very important changes to the E2 Teaching Visa requirements. We expect this will slow the overall processing time from 4 weeks, to 6-8 weeks, unfortunately. This is all the more reason why teachers need to make sure they're prepared, organized, and ready for this exciting experience.

March 1st start dates
Uijeongbu area, outside Seoul - we have 2 schools in this area, that we've almost filled all 9 jobs for. We still need 2 females, and 1 male here. I think Uijeeongbu has the nicest environment of the Seoul satellite cities.

Incheon - We have at least 15 teachers already starting in Incheon for March 1st. We need 7 more teachers for these jobs. I have dealt with the directors of these schools for 1 year now, and would highly recommend them to friends. We have 6 teachers who have been at the schools for as long as 1 year, who you can talk with for references. Incheon is where the Korean International Airport is located, making it easy to get away during long weekends! NA teachers are preferred, and then British teachers.

Ilsan - Once again, it is 2 schools, owned by the same director. They need a total of 10 teachers, and it looks like we have 5 confirmed so far who will sign there, so that leaves 5 openings. The pay is between 2.0 and 2.2million for a very well organized school, that treats all the teachers fairly. Ilsan is a brand new city, so it's well designed, and extremely clean, especially by Korean standards. Only N. American teachers will be considered at this point, for these jobs.

Jeonju, 2 jobs, with very easy hours. 1 is from 9am to 2pm, and the other is from 2-8pm. The director has owned English schools for many years, and the foreigners in the area trust him a lot. Any nationality is OK. We have references for this school as well.

Cheonan - a satellite city of Seoul. We have a school that needs 3 teachers after Feb 1st. The hrs are 2-9pm. Any nationality is OK.

Gwangju - We have about 35% of the more than 100 teachers we've helped bring to Korea, in Gwangju. We love dealing with the schools here, as we know and trust them very much. N. American teachers are preferred by some schools, but not all.

Daegu, Daejeon, other medium sized cities - We now have contacts who have strong ties in these important Korean cities. The schools are very flexible to hire people from all 7 native English speaking countries, where some schools of the larger city schools only want to consider N. American teachers.

Here is what is covered in every contract with one of our schools:

1) At least 2,000,000 Korean won per month, with taxes around 3.5-4%.

2) Free, return airfare, paid in advance by Teach ESL Korea, or your school.

3) Free, furnished, studio apartment, usually within walking distance to the school.

4) 2 weeks of paid vacation, plus all national holidays.

5) 3-5 sick days

6) 50% of the medical insurance is paid by the school. This will cover all medical and prescription costs. It will not include dental or eye care.

7) Max of 30 hours each week of teaching.

8) Bonus of 1 month's pay at the end of your 12 month contract.

At Teach ESL Korea, we work closely and personally with our applicants, to make sure they get the job that is best for them. You can always email with our current teachers for references about us, or our schools. We strive to have the closest group of teachers in all of Korea. We host gatherings regularly to make sure new teachers get the opportunity to meet others. Please let me know how we can best help you enjoy your Korean experience.
