Hi! My name is Mike. Im 21 years old and im from Australia.

im currently very interested in going to Korea for a visit or to live and work.

I have experience teaching english to kids in Japan. i was there for one and a half years with a working holiday Visa. i lived at the same place and held the same job. it was an amazing experience. so i wanna do it in Korea!

Basically, my question is about the importance of having a uni degree, as I don’t have one. From the research Ive been doing, you need a degree for a working Visa. Also a working holiday Visa wont allow you to hold the same job for more than three months.
So what are my options?
What exactly is a “E2 VISA”???

Any help on this topic would be well appreciated.

Cheers Mike.

Hi Mike,

This is a very common question for people who will do a good job teaching ESL, but do not have a university degree, or maybe if they don't come from a native English speaking country.

The Korean government will simply not allow someone to teach English in Korea, unless they have:

A) A 3 or 4 year university degree, in any major.

B) A valid passport from a native English speaking country - only New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, Ireland, UK and South Africa qualify.

You mentioned possibly working in Korea, on a visitor visa, but this is also not allowed, without a university degree, and a valid passport from the above countries.

Best of luck with everything you do.
